About Bearicorn

Bearicorn is a self-hosted chat and task application. You run the hub on a server you control, and your team connects through the web or mobile app.

Supported chat and task content is encrypted before it is sent to the hub. The hub still processes information needed to operate the service, such as accounts, membership, timestamps, and delivery activity. Read the security overview to understand those boundaries.

Who these docs are for

These docs are written for the person who installs and operates a Bearicorn hub. They cover:

• preparing a Linux server;
• deploying the checked-out source with Docker Compose;
• configuring HTTPS and environment variables;
• backing up and troubleshooting the hub; and
• understanding recovery and encryption boundaries.

Where to begin

For a new installation, follow the quick start. If you already run a reverse proxy, review the Direct HTTP stack before connecting it to your existing proxy.
